Hmm no expert but i think it might have to do with pressurised brakes. Like in trucks tanks perhaps. That would explain absense of the blue paint because that was inhaled by people.

The propeller looks like a Left Hand rotation, like the Hamilton Standard Counterweight type propeller, or the licensed DeHavilland produced, or other foreign copy. If you look at the broken off gear drive, you may be able to identify the type of engine the propeller was installed on. Since it is a left hand rotation it could be British
