A RAF Hawk trainer has crashed on take-off at RAF Valley, Anglesey, UK.
Both crew ejected.

Two pilots ejected and parachuted out of their plane before a crash involving an RAF training aircraft.

North Wales Police said the pilots of the RAF T2 Hawk aircraft were being treated for minor injuries following the incident in the Pencarnisiog area of Anglesey.

The force said helicopters from the Coastguard and the Wales Air Ambulance were at the scene close to RAF Valley on the island.

"Two pilots are being treated for what are thought to be minor injuries and at this stage there are no reports of any wider damage or injuries," it said.

"Please avoid the area until further notice."

The Ministry of Defence has been asked to comment.

The Royal Air Force said: "An incident involving an RAF T2 Hawk aircraft, flying out of RAF Valley.

"An investigation is under way and we will not comment further at this time."

Just seen the BBC article, which shows wreckage being doused by fire crews, near a caravan, and the tail section only a few feet from another caravan, so a very lucky escape for those on the ground.
There's an image on "The Telegraph" on-line showing two parachute canopies descending, but 'net connection prevented me from seeing more.
Obviously speculation, but perhaps engine failure on take off, or severe bird strike ?
BTW, it was a Hawk T2 aircraft.

Glad the crew banged out and lucky there were apparently no casualties on the ground. Could've been a LOT worse.

Same video is on the latest BBC News release, showing the "porpoising" before the ejection. An eyewitness report mentions a fire immediately after take off, which appeared to extinguish as the aircraft gained altitude, followed by the pitching then the ejection/crash sequence.

you can see fire post ejection also.

I noticed a "flash" in the tailpipe area, and a trail of smoke which appeared to be coming from the cockpit, perhaps reside from the ejection.

Glad the pilots are safe and no one was injured on the ground. Just watched a new video on Vue posted by the standards guy showing the aircraft running up prior to t/o from Valley. Just after it starts its t/o roll huge flames come from the top of the fuselage in the area of the apu and the aircraft gets into the air still burning, as it gains altitude it starts banking left and the flames die down, it is about this point that the video as shown on the BBC starts. The gent who posts videos under this name is an ex flying instructor who flew this mark of Hawk for 10 years out of Valley. He says the control rods run over the top of the
apu and would have burned through very quickly.

I have it from a very good source, that is what happened, the guy with the video is correct
