Just "won" another one, for £9.99. To be done as a RAF example - eventually !!

Me too. Just missed a AM kit, so got this instead. F
rom what I've seen, there are similarities to the AM kit, just as their P-51B/C is very similar to the Tamiya kit.

Apparently, from I review I read from a Portugese site, the ICM kit has the good bits of both the Tamiya B/C kit, and the AM, P-51A kit, seemingly a direct copy of both kits, and the reviewer concluded that, overall, it was better than the AM kit., although more in line with a Mustang Mk.1 which suits me.
I'll try to remember to post some pics and info when it arrives.

Nice one Terry. That's a different boxing of the kit I'm using for the XP-51 and I also have it in that boxing.
Just so you know when you go to build it, there are not parts to build a P-51A or the RAF equivalent Mustang II in the box. even though it says so. The kit has the narrow carb scoop and hinged radiator scoop of a P-51, Mustang I or Mustang 1A. The P-51A and Mustang II had a much wider carb scoop and fixed radiator scoop, although of a different type that the later P-51B,C and D. You could probably modify the radiator scoop, but the carb scoop would be much more difficult. I know the AM F-6 kit has the proper scoops for a P-51A/Mustang II if you really need to build one of those.

I've got the Accurate Miniatures version and would be curious to see how they built up

I've built the AM F-6 kit and am now starting on the ICM Mustang II kit. I have to say I like the AM kit better. The molding is cleaner and the parts fit together much nicer. It is not a direct copy of the AM kit although it looks like ICM based it off of the AM kit. Some parts are exact duplicates. although rougher and some look like they took an AM part, for example the cockpit sidewall, and divided it into multiple parts for no apparent reason. The biggest difference seems to be that the ICM kit fuselage has the engine cowl attached while the AM kit has it separate so different Mustang versions can be made. AM obviously did there research designing this kit. Every one I've looked at has the proper configuration for that advertised on the box. It looks like ICM did a quick copy of one version of the AM kit and put it out as any old Allison engine Mustang with out checking on particulars.

That said it does look like the ICM kit can be built into a nice looking finished product, it just might take a little more work than the AM Mustangs

Nice catch Glenn, and thanks for the info on the AM and ICM kits, especially confirming that my kit is really a Mustang Mk1 or Mk1a, as that's what I was intending to use it for, with some mods and additions. Even better is that I don't have to modify the carb intake - a bit of a job, but not too taxing.
