Just came in from flying some cheap wind-up balsa wood planes and a glider with mine and the neighbour's kids, plus their grandmother. Planes were all damaged, everyone nearly got hit atleast once, and we all had a ball. The neighbours little girl was running around with her arms out making aeroplane noises. Most fun I've had in ages :)

I build the old Revell 72 scale B-24D back about '72/3 times frame. I had been playing around with model rockets and had some D cell rockets on had. Don't recall how this came about but my dad and I decided to see it the plastic model could fly. (My dad was always in some kind of hijinks with me) I strapped two rockets on top of each wing, one inboard of the inboard engines and one outboard of the outboard engines, I then strapped one rocket to the bottom of each wing between each engine, two more were mounted between the twin rudders one above and one below. My dad pulled out a sheet of plywood and got it mounted at about a 45° angle. We wired the rockets up and dad pulled the car around to use its battery to light off the rockets.

Are you ready? He asked. YES was my reply and he hit the wires to the battery. Three engines on the left wing and one between the tail lit off. That plane cartwheeled off the plywood and started chasing me around the yard as I ran as hard as I could. My dad laughed harder than I have ever seen him laugh in my life. I miss him dearly.
