Researchers hoping to solve one of the 20th century's great mysteries say the expedition was still worthwhile despite coming up empty-handed.

Anyone with functioning eyes knew how that expedition was going to end.
The island is correct (triangulation of Earhart's radio transmissions put it there), but that was never going to be the plane.
