his was just posted in a relatively new channel - "Earth Uncovered." Image stabilized, speed corrected, sometimes colorized and with good commentary. Remarkable in so many ways. I just had to grab this screens shot. Note the Jenny in the lower right and the unusual insignia! this is not AI.

Not so sure about how accurate. I have not seen that dorsal fin on any military or civilian Jenny, and yet here are three.

An optical illusion? I think what appears to be a dorsal fin fillet is actually the horizontal stabilizer - on the far side - but due to the angle it is difficult to make out.

Fantastic video. Certainly the French seemed to be way ahead of other nations in training methods.

The dorsal appears wrong on all three as well as the horizontal stabilizer leading edge is in reality linear in the center rather than the tapered triangular shape on the video. Check your three view. It is possible the original movie film had been retouched for sharpness resulting in the distortions.

It is the effect of using the AI for making the shot not only colourized but also of a better quality. The AI didn't recognized the difference between the leading edge of the starboard horizontal stabilizer that is noticed partially with a such view angle usually and the leading edge of the fin the was moved a little back. The different shape of the port one is caused also by the wrong ID of colours and the plane surfaces by the AI. The main reason for the mistake is the propably the fuselage daiagonal, blue band and the triangular piece of the light area of the fuselage between it and the blurred leading edge of the stabilizer. Addtionally the darker strip at the top edge of the fuselage truss seems to be "broken" ( with a gap ) what reinforced the effect of the longer leading eadge of the stabilizer there. The differences can be noticed better in the B&W, enlarged screen shots grabbed before the screen gets the colours.

Regarding the unusual insignias .. these aren't any unusual but just the misshapen AI work. It generated the distorted ones based on the later USA insignia with the star. While it was just the roundel used from 1918 to 1920. Both the insigina types can be noticed in the diagram and middle image.

PS ... What is more a such effect we also may notice in the shot of the Jenny no.38530 above, The white center disks also look like being deformed by the protruding wing airfoils with the protecting strips of the stitches at the edges of the airfoils and the sunken fabric wing skin. Additionally it is possible the AI could take into account the discolouration of the top markings that happens often ...

Once again, Wurger solves the problem. By enlarging the B/W screen shots the true fin shape appears as well as the actual stabilizer shape. If only I had Wurger's computer ability, the video would have been obvious.
