Rob Holland, a multi time world aerobatic champion was killed today during a " landing incident" at Langley Air Force Base. No details regarding the crash.
I have watched him probably 50 times over the years. Aerobatics are not my cup of tea but he was a skilled pilot for sure.

Witness reports to NTSB say structural failure, specifically a wing or large protion of same separated from the aircraft while on final appraoch. No chance to bail out. Not the first time an EX S has had wing separation issues.

Where are you seeing the witness reports?

The NTSB prelim has been released.

This is why it's important not to perpetuate rumors and unvalidated "witness statements". Let the professional accident investigators do their work and in time we'll have the facts.

Rob was a friend and that makes this one especially tough. He will be sorely missed.
