How did the Chinese manage to fend off the Japanese as well as they did?
It seems that the Chinese military must have been of better capability than commonly assumed, or the Japanese didn't make it top priority?
And then there is Operation Ichi-Go.
What were the Japanese thinking?
With the Central and Southwest Pacific theatres going against them, why, now, push further into China?
What if that effort had been expended against the Allies in the CP or SWPA?
