In my castle....
Is there a particular reason for the extended loading handle on the Spandau 08/15 and for it to be called Fokker version?

For what I see, the Fokker Dr.I and D.VII, Albatros D.III and the Pfalz D.III plus D.V all have the short loading handle machine gun....

Been looking at the GasPatch replacements, so I'm somewhat curious.... 🤨🤔😁

The one with the longer loading handle is the Luftgekuhlte Maschinen Gewehr 08/15. The longer handle for charging and clearing (Segenhebel) was a device introduced by the Carl Lindström AG electrische Antriebe of Berlin firm. Because the loading/reloading of the ammo required two hands for the standard MG 08/15 it was needed to make it with one hand only for the aviation MG. Therefore the Lindström mechanism by which the weapon was simultaneously loaded and tensioned had to be used. Just the pilot could chamber a round and cock the gun with a single movement toward him.
