Tamiya's B399 kit. I used the kit to do more practice on canopy masking with masks cut with the Silhouette Cutter.

I painted in the colors of a Buffalo at Midway, though not an F2A-3. Still learning about painting masked insignia. You can see a white outline around the blue insignia. Panels lines highlighted slightly with Tamiya outline. Insignia and lettering are painted with stencils.

Nice job Joe!

For the white outline sometimes im able to carefully and lightly scrape away with a toothpick without scratching the base coat, again sometimes that has worked for me

alternatively do the insignia first, liquid mask the remaining unmasked portion of the insignia then lay down the primary color or camo is another method that can work to overlap the base layers of the insignia

The next build I'm going to try a light spray of clear over the mask, before painting the white field. My goal is one as nice as your F6F

Nice. What game is the map for?

I was an Avalon Hill affectionado.
Now I play the Fighting Wings series of air games by JD Webster.
Gonna play Buffalo Wings tomorrow night. Finns vs Russians.
Yes, almost all my games were AH. When I put the Buffalo on the Midway and Flat Top boards, it didn't look as nice. I found a gaming club in Northern VA, and still play. Its hard to find new people willing to read a 10+ page rule book.
