Having recently bought the new Airfix F-8, I figured I better do this one, which I've had in the stash for years, first, or run the risk of never building it at all. It's mostly OOB, but I used an Eduard PE set for the seat, instrument panel and other cockpit details, and Eduard PE seat belts. Paints are Model Master enamels. Exhaust pipes are Alclad Steel and Burnt Iron. Decals are from the kit except for the starboard codes, which I wrecked by breaking a cardinal decaling rule: never do on side until the other side is dry. I replaced them by rendering them on my computer and having a friend make masks with his cutter/plotter. Markings are for RAF 616 Squadron, the only unit (I think) to operated the F.1
Looks great. I did the F.1 and F.3, wonderful kits. Need to find the pic of the F.8 that got zapped by the RCAF and then I'll buy the kit.....later.....ish
