The basic concept of a low airspeed high payload aircraft is again of interest. Fuel burn for a cargo weight falls greatly when you design for low cruise speed. Aircraft with the nacelle positioned to wash the wing get a short takeoff boost. Maybe someone will make an updated Gigant?

Well C-17 is an awesome aircraft.
But what would happen if we compared the cost of transporting day a ton of goods 1000 km?
The C-17 would be very fast! But a Gigant would use a fraction of the fuel, per unit mass.
