Airman
Hi all,
I've come across some interesting clips on youtube, an album that was released in the 1970's called The Sound of the Aeroplane at War 1939 - 1945, consisting of actual airplane sounds recorded during the war by war correspondents. Here's the whole album:
Most interesting to me is the recording of Hawker Typhoons of the Second Tactical Air Force during ground attack mission sometime in 1944 with the battle sounds in the background.
The recording also captures the sound of Typhoon's Napier Sabre engine which is also rare to hear as there are no flying examples today.
