-29 tomorrow, but students are wearing their shorts to school. so it looks like we will be open :joycat: :joycat: :joycat: :joycat:

Since I've been here, 1985, during the up to -40s, every year there are a few students walking to school in shorts. I'll occasionally wear shorts but that's from the door to the truck and then from the truck to the mall. This is only because I'm too lazy to put on pants
I saw a guy this morning carrying a gym bag and wearing shorts. It was -28C, windchill below -30C. I hope he wasn't going far .... or he might still be where I saw him :-0
Current windchill is -36C. That's ..... chilly

Daughter is travelling south this weekend. Plus temperatures and rain on frozen highways make for adventurous driving. If anyone recalls when I wrote about this a month ago, six vehicles in the ditch on a 200km stretch within hours

Sitting out on the porch at 4pm this afternoon, it was 68F. When the front hit at 5pm, it was sudden and palpable. 7pm now, the car says 36F. That's almost Blue Norther sort of drop.

In the high sixties today, 1400 the rain came and I was looking for shitim wood to build my ark. Cold front with wind chills in the teens tomorrow night into Thursday. Why can't you folks up north keep your winter weather under control?

Meh, typical Hill Country winter for us. We always get a couple of hard freezes, and snow every couple of years, this is no different.

WOW! That's the kind of swings we get, courtesy of the Rockies

Yeah, they come screaming straight across the prairie and don't stop until they hit the hills of CenTex where I live. Much worse in Amarillo or Dallas. I was in Ft Worth in 92 for one that dropped fifty degrees in two or so hours.

"If you don't like the weather, wait fifteen minutes," we say. Usually in humor. :)

Didn't go to work last night because of the high probability of black ice...was misting off and on and freezing rain when I got up to check. Woke up this morning to 12F, snow flurries and a windchill of -7F... I'm not built for this stuff anymore...
