When trains passed the B&O Tower I was to watch for hot boxes (train wheel on fire) or any thing unusual and report it to the dispatcher. At daybreak on this morning I was monitoring the passing of a west bound Grand Trunk freight headed for Chicago. I saw what looked like a human body draped over the coupling between two cars. I reported this to the dispatcher commenting that I probably was wrong etc. He elected to stop the train at the next station and do a search. He called me later to report I did see what I thought I saw. They found a passed out man, drunk as a skunk, balanced over the coupling. Apparently he had been there since the train departed South Bend, Indiana some 28 miles East of the tower and remained in that position until the train was stopped for the search. He had no serious injury. I guess being drunk at times can be beneficial
