V2 Launch from US Carrier

I wonder what it did to the deck. What was the success rate of V2 launches? That looked like a helluva risk.

I am wondering what the point was, what were they trying to prove?

Boys and their toys.. kinds like an adult version of putting a firecracker in a frog...

I think it was the beginning of validation trials for eventually launching V2-like rockets from submarine decks; this was right after the War, and before the Regulus. Obviously, the V-2 missle was a little big to carry on a submarine, so I think they were seeing if it was possible to launch a missle from the deck of an ocean-going vessel.
 
The Navy didn't want to be left out of the nuke race.

Add this clip to the C130 and U2 trials... amazing nerve they have.
