There have been several photos of "WW" in the forum. Some in the P-51 threads.

Along with "WW" assembly ships their were "WW" P-47D Razorback "Formation Monitors". I haven't seen a bubble top yet. Also, they were used in the 5th Emergency Rescue squadron

Interesting shot of a Razorback with a Malcom Hood. Any idea what's bolted to the belly? Looks to be attached aft of the centerline external tank.

That's one of the aircraft from the 5th Emergency Rescue squadron. Those are possibly flares or markers.

Normally the WW birds was moved to the scrape heaps. The bird would be stripped of usable parts, buried or burned. The only photos was normal taken of a famous birds, or a personnel photos by the crew chief or pilot

Smoke marker flares carried beneath the fuselage, and a dinghy pack beneath each wing. Flares were to mark the location for the rescue launch or amphibian aircraft.
