What is it ?

Which object is this (size about 30 x 40 cm).

This was found on the island of Vis (emergency airport during WW II. USAAF and RAF were present on the island in 1944/45).
Any hint or information welcome.

Absolutely positively definitely completely 100,000,000% NOT a pilot seat from any aircraft.

Pilots sit on their parachute and the seat has absolutely nothing that will damage the chute by rubbing or foul it during seating or exiting. They also have rounded edges to assist the chute entering. And aircraft do not have crappy clips like that thing has.

I would say it is a very small item, gloved fingers in one shot? Also, the rivetting is not aircrafy quality. The gas device is the leader at the moment I'd say!

I think the metric measurements translated to about 11 inches by 15 inches.
