Did Richthofen have more than one DR-1 assigned to him?
Because we know the Germans didn't recover the one he was shot down in.

IIRC Richthofen flow 102/17, 152/17 and 425/17 Dr.I. The 152/17 ( also found the serial 127/17 ) was displayed at the Zeughaus museum in Berlin. I have reminded myself a pic of the kite being displayed on small stands. The one is standing directly on the ground and supported at the back. Judging by the engine cowling it may be the Dr.I that was assembled by Fokker from existing components in 1932. It looks like the plane was used for the films "Pour le mérite" and "D III 88". Later it was displayed in the Deutsche Luftfahrtsammlung (DLS) in Berlin. The location is suggested by the ceiling shape and roof structure. Also by the inscriptions on the plane. Anyway both Dr.Is were destroyed during the Allied bombing raids at war.

PS. Just found shots of both the triplanes. The 152/17 ( 127/17 ) from he Zeughaus museum in the left picture. And the one from the Deutsche Luftfahrtsammlung ( the right image ) that was displayed during the International Air Show 'Internationale Luftfahrtausstellung ILA' in Berlin in 30'. And it had the kind of inscriptions applied. So no doubt it is the triplane seen above but not the one used by Richthofen. So again the propaganda.

Actually it can be quite interesting story ... a couple of different sources say that the Werk Nr. 528/17 was retained as a testbed by the Deutschen Versuchsanstalt für Luftfahrt (German Aviation Research Institute) at Adlershof. After being used in the filming of two movies, the 528/17 is believed to have crashed sometime in the late 1930s..
Here are two shots I found of her and the replica grabbed from the movie D III 88. It can be noticed that the dreidecker had different engine cowling than the 528/17 displayed in the Deutschen Luftfahrtmuseums in Stuttgart-Böblingen in early 30'. However the holdings of the Böblingen Museum were moved in mid-1935 to the Deutschen Luftfahrtsammlung (DLS) in Berlin and became a part of the exibition there.

So just curious if the 528/17 got the new engine with the engine cowling for starring in the two movies in 1938/1939. Or these are the two different planes especially if the 528/17 was crashed at that time while the Dr.I in the DLS museum was destroyed later at war. The screenshot below shows there were two different triplanes used for the movie.
