It could be a Albatross D-1 or D-2 but if that's the case it was highly censored besides hand colorized. I don't know what is going on with the rear fuselage shape, and the inter-plane struts just don't look right to my eyes. But it probably is an Albatross as I can not find anything else on line that even comes close. I was thinking it may be an early Roland or Halberstadt type but nothing I could find matches

Hi
Unlikely to be 1915 more like 1917. Appears to be Albatros D.III, fitted with D.V rudder that was fitted to some of the type (its fuselage sides appear to look less rounded that of the D.V). However, the engine exhaust appears to be larger/different than generally seen in other photos

I agree on the year. However it is the Albatros D.V but not D.III. The Albatros D.III didn't have the eliptical fuselage that can be noticed in the pic above. The sides of the D.III fuselage were slightly curved, almost flat, especially at the tail area. Also the cut our for accessing of the cockpit seems to be more deep due to the more eliptical fuselage in the cross-section than the one of the D.III that was of a more flat top. The D.V rudder wasn't fitted to the D.III but reversely. The rounded rudder was made for the D.III by the OAW factory and then adopted for the D.V. I can't see the OAW emblem on the rudder so the kite was made by the Albatros Flugzeugwerke GmbH ( initially Albatros-Werke GmbH) in Johannisthal. Judging by the serial D.4603 the kite belonged to the batch of 300 D.Vs ordered in July 1917, serials D.4403-4702/17. As far as the exhaust pipes are concerned .. IMHO the standard Albatros one could have been damaged and the maintenace crew either could make new one from scratch or it could be taken from other type plane. Actually I get an impression I have already seen a such one before. But where I can't remind myself.
