Good video, although the differences in use were not mentioned or discussed. The "English" archers were used as a form of artillery, launching mass volleys of arrows, at a relatively high angle, at the enemies line, rather than being used to loose single, aimed shots at individuals.

The Scythian Bow and the Tatar Bow.

The Mongolians actually created their own version the Tatar Bow, which is also a devastating weapon in it's own right.

Yes, it is considered the great grandfather of all recurves, though the Mongolian Bow would be a closer relative to today's recurves.

Good question - I do know it originated from the Steppes, but it's shape is distinct and unlike the Tatar or Mongolian bow.
