Shown here is the Bf 109E-3, (Werke-Nummer 1304), of 1./JG 76, and piloted by Fw Hans Hier, after it had landed on the 22nd November, 1939 near Woerth, Bas Rhin, some 19 Km (12 miles) on the French side of the border. This machine, White 1, was first test-flown by the French at Orleans-Bricyand later turned over to the British, where it became AE479.
