  • I am so impressed with your knowledge, did you serve in the war? Is there any place where I could learn more about these planes?
Downton Abbey ! My missus was into that period drama in a big way. The WW1 episodes were good, The BBC does period drama better than ITV though. BBC iplayer may have 'Little Dorrit' still.
Aussies, ha, they love to hate the poms. It was a sweet victory when we beat the buggers in Cricket. Not that we mention that fact very often of course...
Catch up later, been nice to chat

Yorktown, Well put. Most people were English in those days...don't mention that in Australia though....
    Difficult times Mal...
The internet is good for finding folks with a mutual interest and to get to know. No substituent for meeting face to face though.
My email is [email protected] if this is easier than VM's.

I really appreciate your generosity. Joking apart, its one the things I love about you Americans. I think that certain EU countries could do well to remember history as well. Did I day France?? Among others, I'm sure you know the score.
Sounds good Mal, I'm up for that. I'd love to see those places. Yorktown? wasn't that were we gave you wild colonial boys your freedom....
When you visit, perhaps we could meet up, its a small world in many ways.
My wife I talk about visiting the USA, we've been to Florida, Washington. The US is so large I could spend a lifetime seeing everything I would want too. I like France mostly in Europe and Southern England. Eire is lovely ( although they have issues with the British).
I have a rocker arm from a Merlin and one day ( maybe) I'll own more parts...
We are out numbered by the German aircraft fans I'm afraid Mal. We have had several heated arguments in the threads and, as I refuse to be browbeaten into submission, I ended up agreeing to disagree ( if you see what I mean). When were you at St Mawgan? I live in Plymouth, about 40 miles east of St M. The FAA is worth a visit, the Sea Fury is amazing, so much raw power. The displays at RAF Manston in Kent are emotive. The main bugbear we have is the unreliable British 'summer'. John
I love the sound too, its baritone is amazing and fills the sky somehow. To me the Spitfire, Hurricane Lancaster are priceless. There is a Lanc display at the RAF museum at Hendon that is amazing. The lanc seems to brood almost...the Spitfire days at Duxford are very popular and the crowd cheer as the victory rolls are done. Would it suprise you that no one cheers when the LW aircraft display?
Its good to have another Merlin fan on this site.
    John
