Hello:
I'm new here, was recommended to this site by Larry McClellan who has an excellent website on technical details of many WWII a/c, especially the B-17. I have a question that maybe someone here can answer or research.
For many years I've noticed that the Plexiglas nose on late model...
During World War II, the practice of customizing aircraft with drawings and pin ups reached the maximum creativity. I share with you some of the most curious nose arts created by the crews of B-25 Mitchell bombers. To see them, visit the link below:

Here is a b-17 i have not seen before.
During World War II, one of the constant tensions for combat air force leaders was quantity versus quality, usually played out in answering the question of “what modifications produced enough added value they were worth slowing the production line for?”...
Looking at the armament of the Do-215 B5 it had a pretty heavy forward firing gun package:

Without the IR gear could it have fitted more guns? Regardless would seem to have been as heavy an armament as the Bf110 and heavier than the Ju88C...
Airfix 1/72nd MKI Avro Lancaster G-George. a model made by Ian Collis
So we didn't want it to resemble G-George as can be seen in the Australian War Memorial (AWM) museum today, but instead we went for how it was based on the B/W photo as it was in service with the same bomb run on the nose...
Here's one of the projects on my worktable. It's an HPM Hobbies 1/72 de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2. The kit is made from the old style light blue HPM injected plastic. Incredibly detailed and probably the most accurate kit in 1/72 scale of the plane. Although much like the old HPM kits, it...
The 617 Sqn Dambuster Lancasters had their nose turrets modified to add stirrups for the nose gunners feet and canvas bags to catch the expended shell cases and links. Does anyone have any pictures or drawings showing these modifications that they could post?
Thanks.

Hey all, looking for aircraft with "Fubar" nose art. Just changed my siggie to my 3rd version. So far I've found a B-29, with crew, -24 #48 and a P-38(unused so far). If anyone knows of others, I would love to see them.

As the title says, in this thread I'll post pictures of RAAF aircraft or RAF aircraft with Australian themed nose art from WWII. While not as elaborate as most American nose art, some are pretty damn cool  enjoy..
