Okay so this come into my mind as I was thinking of ways to increase the roles of a plane without having to resort to multiple planes in the role. What if they made a plane with specially detachable wings? There would be two versions of the wings, swept and straight. Imagine swept being used to...
One daring nonagenarian took to the skies to relive her remarkable past.
British World War II pilot Joy Lofthouse had the chance, earlier this month, to fly an iconic plane she flew during the war -- the Spitfire, BBC News reported. The 92-year-old's flight took place about 70 years since...
I'm a huge fan of this aircraft and the one thing I've never managed to find was a drawing or photograph of the cockpit. If someone has a photograph or drawing of the cockpit of this plane I'd very much so appreciate it.
Okay, let's say we discard the concept of a revolving auto-cannon and imagine Germany attempts to make revolving cannon based off of the Gatling gun design. Do you think they could have pulled it off?
Also would would one cannon producing a volley of bullets be more effective than multiple...
Evening all,
I recently found a tail wheel from what I believe is a WW2 plane however I am having trouble working out which plane it is actually from.
The plates have Serial number PP158700, DRG number 5371-2 (I believe from research that this is the AHO or AH number), and also M23L14 on the...

Greetings and thanks for the forum. I am not an aircraft guy but I know I am in the right place. I have a friend with a Wheel and Tire which I believe belonged to a WW2 aircraft but have no clue what it is for or from. I thank you all for any information you can provide. It has been in his...
Hi,
I'm trying to identify the plane my Grandfather is standing in front of? Everyone in the family seems to think he flew as a radio operator on the B-25 Mitchell, but from what I can tell, the B-25 was a tricycle gear and much larger.
Any help is much appreciated!

Happy Holidays: I was hoping someone could ID this plane for me. I can see a tail number but wasn't able to ID the plane the top number appears to be 134 and the bottom number is 23478. I think this is a trainer, but again not sure. Thanks for the help.
I was wondering if there was a specific use of nylon in two-seater bomber planes in WW2 specifically protecting the pilots or if anything in the cockpit utilizes nylon. Not looking for anything related to flak jackets, ropes, ties, helmets, more so the plane. Thank you
