1/32 scale de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI

Thanks for dropping by folks. Today's progress aw me prepare, spray and assemble both the engine mounts.

They are quite complicated and very frail. I managed to snap a couple and swift repair work had to be carried out.




The engine is only a temp fit and although almost complete they need to be livened up a tad with some realistic piping and wiring.
 
Many thanks Terry. Let me think on this as I do have a number of engine shots with as much detail as I think I need.

Nothing special on this one Andy, just the kit decals which show the "Operation Jericho" with RNZAF 478 Squadron operating from RAF Hunsdon on 18 February 1944.
 
Great work Vic , looking excellent . I built 2 x Airfix 1/24 Mossies a while back [ at the same time ] and added all the extra detail that was missing . Fuel , air and hydraulic lines in the bombay , control runs on the main spa behind the pilot and nav , and so forth . I did 1 x kit with starboard engine on show and 1 x kit with port engine on show , [ 1 x NF11 and 1x FBV1 ] Took many pics but have lost them through computer malfunctions . The kits engine coolant lines were very pitted so I took the opportunity to replace them with copper wire [ polished ] of similar diameter [ it did add some weight tho ] . I really enjoyed building them , but it was difficult in places [ mainly self inflicted ! ] I can see that the Tamiya kit has a few parts that are non existent in the larger Airfix kits [ nice ] . So hopefully I will get to build mine one day [ I still have 1 x Airfx Mossie to build [ glutton for punishment ] Keep up the good work !

I had a little break and got involved with this:

Took me three days on and off.

Back on track now and for a couple of days have been fiddling with ideas for sorting out additional scratch detail for the starboard engine, this one will be fitted and on display.
The hardest part was trying to work out how to duplicate a 'T' junction in scale. I may have cracked it!

Now I'm just fiddling with pipes and wire, this is just the start.


 
My thanks for the kind words folks. It has taken a while but at long last I have finished fiddling with the starboard engine and made up the port without any extra additions.

Both engines as they stand at the moment.



This one is the starboard engine that will be on full display.


The port engine that will be enclosed.




Looking into the upper part of both wheel wells which still need a bit of extra work as the undercarriage is put together.

Thanks for looking in, the mojo has been a bit dented but with the next step forward I'm hoping to pick up momentum.
