Hello there.
I am now doing a kit for 85th anniversary of Battle of Midway and this cat is my first work.
Kit: Academy 12355
Detail up set: none
Status: 1942.6.4 afternoon defense of Yorktown
Pilot:"Jimmy" Thach

Brief introduction(From Arma Hobby)
On the USS Yorktown, meanwhile, Lt Cdr Thach waited impatiently in the cockpit of his F-1/5171 to take off. The order was finally given at 14:40. Thach was the first to attack the enemy. Shortly after take-off, he saw one of the "Kates" getting ready to launch its torpedo. Wasting no time, he fired off a burst from a slight advantage of height; the enemy pilot managed to drop his torpedo, but the aircraft then hit the surface of the ocean and disintegrated. As it turned out, his victim was the commander of the Japanese assault – Captain Joichi Tomonaga.

First stage: color testing
I use AK interactive(Bronze green) and AquaQ Neo acrylic (Blue Gray and Grumman Gray)
As it's shown below,I make color cards in order to make sure that the color is accurate

Guys,I have encountered a big trouble and I need your assistance.
It's about what 250N(Norfolk Flight Deck Stain)looks like.
For nearly all of that era's photos were black and white, some so-called "colored" are mainly AI-colored and may not performs true color.
In my plan, this cat would be set on a wooden deck,which will be colored as Yorktown's deck.

I have made color chips like this picture below
upper,left to right: 5-H,5-O,5-S
lower,left to right: Hull Red,FDS

I wish whether you could help me……

What worried me a lot is: How can I check whether the color paint is correct, especially there was little colored photos during WWII

The paint chips were created by John Snyder and Randy Short, the chips are reconstructed using original period sources, formulas, and the 1929 Munsell color standard book. If there are no accurate colour photos of your subject, you could paint it purple until someone proves you wrong

Bronze Green? Or some lighter color

The ones I recall seeing were sort of a green apple color.

I borrowed a propeller from the Eduard F4F, which belongs to my friend.
