Hello again my fellow modelers.

Here is the advance performed so far in the kite where finally, all the electrical works were tested and completed after a long ponderation in order to reduce and improve the work more efficiently.

In order to continue working the fuselage and the wings, first the Hs-293 that is expected to have a light in place (as the real one had one for guidance), had to be worked inside the missile and also within the wing along with its power source.

In the image 1 a hole was drilled in the area where the electrical wires along with the smoke was performed. These wires with the small guidance light had to be also located and tested after more welding works in the main body of the missile as can be appreciated in the images 2 and 3. The blurred image 4 correspond to the final located works where it was time to assembly and prime the main missile sub assemblies... The image 5 corresponds to the reference image where this is the final desired scope for these works...... :-k

Once the electrical wiring works inside the missile was completed, then it was time to continue with with the reinforcement of the main body of the fuselage in order to avoid issues with the weight basically in the dorsal surface of the kite. I've read in several places that the wing joints to the fuselage are quite delicate and as a matter of fact, there are some aftermarket reinforcements for the wings but after playing with the kite for a while :laughing6:, I pondered that the main area to be worked with was in the internal bomb bays.....

Also another theme that had to be considered is that this inner structure will be the base for the kite display..... so it had to be sturdy enough without much weight....:dead2:

Then it was time to complete the power source for the HS-293 and it was decided that the starboard engine nacelle would receive the electrical switch/battery. This will permit a safe installation as desired when I see fit. In particular for the travel for the nationals....
In the image ii the power wires can be appreciated beside the surface where the missile pylon will be eventually located...

And finally it was time to continue detailing the wings rivets, priming and detailing also the fuselage where taking advantage that the main primer is black, now it was time to apply also a grey one in order to pre shade several surfaces....

Fabulous Gerry. Didn't know about the light on the missile.
Hello my friend Crimea. I also wasn't aware of this fact. I thought that the flame of the rocket was enough to guide the missile to target but no....

Besides the rocket (that only worked for around a few seconds), the missile also depended on a guidance flare located above the rocket exhaust as can be appreciated in the following image captured from a real testing film...

So I guess that this light will improve the kite display a little..:-k Also due to the fact that locating the battery and the wiring for this missile was really a pain in..(you know where.....:laughing6:)..

Are the wings so well joined to the fuselage that you can mount it painted? Or did you already modify it to make it fit properly?

The OOB parts presents a rather brittle joints between the wings and the fuselage.

I'm currently in the process of joining the wings to the fuselage but due to the added weight in each wing, the inner fuselage had to receive a further strengthening. This pondering was based on comments of several fellow modelers that this joint has to receive a special attention, basically due to the length of each wing. I also considered that this kite will travel packaged and has to resist each trip unharmed, then guess that the internal structure was a must to avoid any tragedy.

The idea is to glue the wings to the fuselage before the paint works.

Hello again my fellow modelers:

Here is the week work performed on the kite. Now it was time to continue with the attachment of the wing subassemblies to the main body.

First I tested the fuselage halves bonding and aligning prior to continue with the wing installation, this in order to avoid returning to correct any separation between these halves along with its paint works.... [-(

And Oh boy, this kite is quite large once it got his wings......

I had to improvise, and with a small table I was able to receive the kite to continue with the paint works..... where locating the kite in an horizontal position would impede to correctly view the advance of the paint that was about to be applied (and also I've found that the airbrush hose always makes contact with the works that are being performed....).

Then I inverted the kite in this same table in order to begin with the paint works on the kite´s belly. The advance performed is better appreciated in chronological order, where each time more pre shading was applied ( with a blue hue paint blend that was located in several areas of the wings and in several crevices, and also with a red rust paint blend that was applied where the exhaust blotches were located), where after each shading work, a further thinned RLM 65 layer was applied.

This pondering is to reduce the possibility of losing or saturating the already applied pre shading works as well as to avoid flooding with paint over the rivet works.....:-k

Now it was time to also detail the Hs-293 missiles and testing some wear and tear finishes in each bomb body and on the jet propelling units....

Finally it is time to begin with big decisions to proceed with the main paint works for the main fuselage.

Guess that the more promising idea is to paint the main kite body with the RLM 74 as mentioned in the image below in between each RLM 76 blotch in order to avoid losing the preshade and rivet works as commented earlier.

I'm aware that this will be a quite demanding work but guess that the scope of this project deserves the effort. Each blue blotch is already considered to be outlined with tak material and with several plastic foils that I found in a package, where its main property is that one face has a mild glue that can be worked and handled as desired..... [-o<.

Plan B would be applying the RLM 76 hand free with a new airbrush that will arrive tomorrow.... If this would be the case to proceed, there's a lot of practice to be performed.
