Came across a person on another board claiming that during the BoB there was a shortage of radios for the 109s. I find this very hard to believe.

I believe there were some problems with either a shortage of radios, or crystals, with which the fighters could contact the bombers whilst on escort duties. The '109s themselves had their own command/comms radios, but couldn't communicate with the bomber formation on the same net.

I think that is where the person is confused.

i would have to look to find it but from some of the stories i read a lot of LW pilots didnt care for radios. for some reason they felt it tied them down and didnt give them the freedom to hunt. i have read this from more than on account...
