Here we see a group of German prisoners from U-185 on the fore deck of the Clenson class destroyer USS Barker (DD-213), about to be transfered by cable to the escort carrier USS Core (CVE-13). The U-boat had been sunk by aircraft from the Core on 24 August 1943, and 36 survivors rescued by the Barker.

Good stuff Jan. I was reading last night that an RAAF squadron commander (77 Sqn I think) insisted that the plane numbers in his squadron, either 2 or 3 digits had to equal 13. You think I can remember which book? Nooooooooo!!! I'll see if I can find it again and then post the relevant info
