Awesome! Must be in China just before WWI

Es tut mir leid, not in China but Chile and after the WW1.

"The HD 24 biplane was flown as a training floatplane by the DVS (Deutsche Verkehrsfliegerschule, actually a covert military flying school). D-1313 was built for Gunther Plüschow, an adventurer who become famous as 'the pilot of Tsingtao' (Qingdao) during WWI, hence the aircraft's name. The plane was shipped to Punta Arenas, Chile for his South American explorations. He crashed it and was killed near the Argentino Lake in January 1931."

"The aircraft was carrying two crew members among them the famous German aviator Günther Plüschow. They were performing their second attempt to fly to the south Patagonia, between Chile and Argentina. While cruising over the region of the Perito Moreno Glacier, some 78 km from El Calafate, the aircraft crashed in unknown circumstances, killing both occupants. "
