Well done to Japan and boo to Belgium for scoring that late goal.
Since England's victory is guaranteed I won't mention the game tomorrow. I only hope that England don't score too many goals as that could be seen as cruel to weaker sides.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch like Spain and Portugal did and Belgium almost did.

Japan played a energetic enthusiastic football which was high intensity and that was too much and couldn't last the whole game. They made a huge error by pushing so many men forward allowing Belgium to score in the last minute on the counter attack. Should have shut the game down.
But Belgium showed good stuff coming back and were the better side so deserves the win. Japan need to slow their game down and play the percentage rather than go nuts but it was an entertaining game.

I am not too confident in England victory but England will never get a better chance than right now with big names out and an easy draw. I feel that an outsider team could be the winner this year.

I have nothing against Neymar or Brazil as a football team. But Neymars dives and general rolling about is just awful and gives me the right hump. That's why I went off football as it's too soft. Get Neymar playing Rugby League, especially Australian Rugby League. That'll teach him! One thing about Japan Belgium as their was a shortage of prima Donnas and it was a pure entertainment football which was a joy to watch.
The Second Japanese goal was sweet as a nut. The 2nd half as a whole had every human emotion and was chock full of drama. Fantastic.
If Belgium do win the world cup then yesterday showed they would deserve it.

Agreed. I did not see much faul play or acting with both teams. I feel the same about Neymar as you do. As Gary Lineker put it yesterday: "Neymar has the lowest pain threshold of any player in World Cups since Opta stats began."

Don't you recognize character and a will to win when you see it? If your guys show that against Columbia you can talk again
I must have been watching a different game, cos all i seen was a potentially good side disjointed and lacking any kind of direction or threat. At least for the first 65 mins. On paper Belgium should be great, but having big name players means nothing if they don't perform. Oh and fyi, i think im better placed to give an opinion on those players seeing as though i've watched them play week in and week out in the premier league. De bruyne is a great player no argument there. But Lukaku i have not rated since he left Everton. And even then i wouldnt say he was all that. He just hasnt been able to make the jump from good to great, and last night was vintage Lukaku. He's been missing goals all season for Man utd because he just isnt clinical enough at finishing. He misses the most easiest of chances and if i were a Belgium fan i'd be worried. But credit where its due, it was a decent comeback. But lets not get carried away they were playing Japan. Second half towards the end was like land of the giants and Japan are useless at defending any kind of set pieces. By rights Belgium should have won that game easily. And as soon as they come up against a real team, ie: Brazil, the flaws in the play and any wasted chances will be ruthlessly punished. They could very well raise their game and prove me wrong but i highly doubt it. As for England i have absolutely no expectations. I learnt not to get carried away a long time ago. So im just gonna enjoy the game and what will be will be.....

You must have read a different post than I wrote, cos I never said they were playing great. Actually they didn't while Japan played very good for what they can. I said that coming back from 2-0 to 2-3 in an 8th final is showing character. Something they will need when playing Brazil. I am very curious if England will show character like that.

To me the first goal for Belgium was a heartbreaker, a complete fluke. The Japanese panicked for ten minutes and the Belgians were invigorated. That's football, its the hope and injustice that makes people watch it.

Don't know, Brazil looked very solid against Mexico. But I hope you are right. Either England, Uruguai or Belgium would be fine by me.

I'd prefer Belgium, simply because they have never won it.

If the team comes from South America, then let it be Uruguay. Brazil does not need a 6th star before Germany get's her 5th...

Don't matter how you win as long as you win. Russia played very negative but did they win? Yep. So even if Belgium didn't play for 90 mins the scoreboard is the final arbiter. And you get nothing for effort. Fluke goals and playing negative is all part of the parcel. So if Japan played better than Belgium then that's a fair shout but it's about who is and who ain't and Japan ain't. So Japan shouldn't have let in 3 goals. And that's that.

Agreed. I did not see much faul play or acting with both teams. I feel the same about Neymar as you do. As Gary Lineker put it yesterday: "Neymar has the lowest pain threshold of any player in World Cups since Opta stats began."
But he rolls real well

The Japanese left the dressing room spotless and played a game of football worthy of praise. Excellent ambassadors for their country. To lose with honour.
Been thinking about the Engalnd game all day. Almost bursting with excitement. Can just about type!

Ah I miss that this year...

Good luck to your side.

…. and the Japanese fans cleaned up the stands after the games finished.
