Peter, the writing was done with a pencil - the hard part was making it look like hastily applied paint strokes !!
The Trolley Ac was made from carved balsa wood, scraps of plastic, plastic rod, wheels from the spares box and a bit of telephone cable. The 'work stand' was made from plastic card, suitably painted etc - and the puddles (it was wet in late May 1944 !) are 'painted' areas of clear gloss varnish and 'Future'.
The taxi track and hard standing are mounting card, suitably painted and textured, with various scenic materials for the grass and scrub. Figures are a mixture of old Monogram, a couple of 30 year-old white metal items, and one ICM item, modified and enhanced as needed - the 'pilot' had the parachute, ripcord, dinghy and oxygen mask etc added from the usual modelling materials.
 
Thanks Kevin and David. The museum were pleased with it, and commented on the overall accuracy, which was nice to hear !
