About the Aircraft Concept

Origin: A 1951 Soviet experimental design study by the Kamov Design Bureau (alongside designers Nikolai Kamov, Vladimir Nikitin, and Vasily Barshevsky).
Base Airframe: It was proposed as a conversion of the Lisunov Li-2 (the Soviet license-built version of the Douglas DC-3 / C-47 transport).
Design: It combined traditional fixed-wing transport capabilities with a co-axial rotor system mounted above the fuselage for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL).
Outcome: The project never progressed past the mockup and paper-study stage; it was cancelled in 1952, and no full-scale flying prototype was ever built. (The concept later influenced actual flying convertiplanes like the Kamov Ka-22 Vintokryl).
