i know it sounds a stupid question but did airfields keep a record of everything that went on during the war at there base as looking for orb for culmhead i need eveything that went on there

yep try the NA at kew,
to help your search they are referred to as station record books ( srb ) not orb

but if the station was small there will be no record book

My limited experience is that ORBs for other than squadrons are EXTREMELY minimal. That is, they exist, but don't have much to say. No doubt there are exceptions, in fact one came to mind as I was typing. They also aren't available online, that I know of, unlike the squadron ones.
