Videos taken at the scene show a few artillery shells (looks like 122mm) lying on the ground several hundred meters from the explosion. It's possible a charges storage warehouse, or shell assembly/filling plant went kaboom.
Nope. Their firecrackers must be awesome.Personally I prefer this excuse / explanation
According to Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the region surrounding the Russian capital, the blast occurred at a warehouse storing fireworks, though it was on the grounds of the plant
Do they seriously expect anyone to believe them?
'Da! Rossia stronk! We have hypersonic, inter-continental ballistic ... fireworks.........'.......Nope. Their firecrackers must be awesome.
That's their story and they're sticking with it.
When this sort of thing happens you can be sure that they will not get the T55's and T62's, which can only be good news for Ukrainefeeling nervous Vlad?

This should be a big worry to Zelenskyy as the AFU burns through the summer. Perhaps the days of being ultra careful with the lives of the AFU are over, and greater risks must be taken before Ukraine's supporters lose interest. When we think of how the Soviets beat the Germans in WW2 it wasn't through prudence, but through brute mass wave force, unfortunately at the cost of many lives, in this case from an Ukraine population that is both much smaller and more democratic than Stalin had to pull from. Will the Ukrainian gloves come off?
The people that write those articles have zero clues about tactics and conditions for applied force.
The bulk of their military knowledge comes from watching movies and when Ukraine mentioned an upcoming offensive, they were expecting something out of Apocalypse Now.
Ukraine has been applying steady and increasing pressure across the board, but at no point have they declared their offensive under way.
The media has declared it, the talking heads have declared it and Russia has done so, too. But how can an offensive be failing if it hasn't happened yet?
Do requote the Ukraine MoD:
"you'll know it when you see it..."
As do those who decide or influence much of the West's policies on foreign military/economic aid, and especially those who pay the taxes that fund aid. Like it or not, the public will start demanding results in Ukraine akin to Hollywood BS. I can just envision General Milley of the Joint Chiefs of Staff telling the Congressional committees and White House press corps to just shut up and wait for the experts about tactics and conditions in Ukraine to get things done. The people that write those articles have zero clues about tactics and conditions for applied force.

They have been masters of beating Russia at it's own game, when it comes to media.I think the Ukrainians are playing snooker.
As it stands, the western nations that have committed funding for Ukraine, are into FY2024 budgets. So even *if* political sentiment shifts away from support to Ukraine, the money and material is committed through next year.As do those who decide or influence much of the West's policies on foreign military/economic aid, and especially those who pay the taxes that fund aid. But some of the fault here comes from poor management of expectations. Both Washington and Ukraine told the world they were planning a big spring offensive.

So, where is it? The taxpayers could be expected to ask.
It looks like regardless of their reported incompetence, command issues and logistical problems, the Russians can still advance and seize Ukrainian cities all whilst holding back the AFU along a 800 km Siegfried Line.
