The Ukrainian military launched a massive drone attack on six regions in Russia overnight Wednesday, according to Russian state media, making it the largest drone attack by Ukraine on Russian soil in 18 months.

Drone strikes reportedly targeted four regions south of Moscow — Kaluga, Ryazan, Bryansk and Oryol — as well as the Moscow region itself and the region of Pskov, in the country's northwest near Estonia, Russia claims.

The Pskov strike caused damage at the city's airport, destroying four military transport aircraft, Russian state media said, citing local authorities. All flights to and from the airport for Wednesday have been canceled as local officials assess the damage, media said.

The city's mayor said there were no casualties in the strike and fires have been contained.

Pskov appeared to be the only region where the drones caused damage. Three drones were shot down over Bryansk, two over Oryol, and one each over Kaluga and Moscow, Russian officials said. No damage or casualties were reported in those regions.

Ukrainian sources saying four, maybe five, Il-76 transport aircraft damaged via a drone attack at Pskov, with at least two destroyed. Reportedly at least 20 to 30 drones used in the attack.

Russian media were initially reporting emergency services said four aircraft were "damaged", including two that caught on fire. Russian reporting then pivoted to reporting that the attack was "thwarted" and no-one was injured. It then pivoted back to admit two aircraft were "damaged by fire".

Videos show at least one aircraft collapsed and completely on fire. Locals report two major and about five smaller fires at Pskov Airport.

Older satellite photos show at least 16 Il-76s being based at the airport, as well as large number of helicopter assets (Mi-8, Mi-28s, Mi-35s and Ka-52s).

The article mentions that until now the Russians were somehow blocking the guidance of HIMARS, and that the USA must have developed a workaround.

So, now we may see the HIMARS return to its deadly and accurate work with greater effectiveness.

The Russians cam try and disrupt a HIMARS' navigation, but that's only going to affect the GPS portion.

They also have an INS system as well as LORAN, which is augmented by GPS, that provides good accuracy on it's own.

So without GPS (or GLONASS), they may not find a window or doorway as their bullseye, by they'll get close.
