After holding a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Feb. 12, U.S. President Donald Trump once again claimed the "horrible, very bloody war" in Ukraine had cost "millions" of lives. It’s not the first time Trump has claimed that such numbers of people have been killed

The U.S. regime requiring Ukraine to provide $500 billion in Ukrainian minerals to repay it for the military and civilian support given to Kyiv since the start of the war — a figure higher than America's actual aid BTW — is a sick joke when one considers the benefits the US has already received from supporting Ukraine:
  • Invaluable intelligence on how modern combat with near peer enemy may be conducted, including real world intel' on Russian system, tactics etc, not to mention how Western systems actually perform in response. This also helps give confidence to the US Military in their own capabilities - e.g. look how the Bradly IFV has performed.
  • Furthermore, opening eyes to the whole way drones can be used in modern war
  • Massive financial benefits to US domestic industry, both military and otherwise, which means jobs, taxes etc
  • Massive boost to re-arming US/preparing it for potential conflict with the likes of China - both through ramping up production of munitions etc but also, through the sharing of old equipment (e.g. M113s) to Ukraine, allowing the US Military to clear out old equipment and replace with new
  • Massive soft power benefit - the US seen to be doing the right thing helps the US's standing globally which in turn makes them safer and just as critically, when the opposite is done, the result will be a US far less safe.

And this is a war. Frankly, if I was the operative I wouldn't even hold it against the Ukranians if they blew my brains out. I mean, if the situation was reversed and I unearthed the spy, I'd do the same thing, right?

It kind of reminds me of one of Mel Brook's films which had a scene where he's dressed up as Hitler talking about how he just wants peace and then says "... a little piece of Poland, a little piece of France, a little piece of Hungary und Austria per chance!"
