One would have thought that NATO still had a defensive system still in place along the eastern borders.

This recent Russian overflight and the ones in 2023, where Russian missiles overflew Moldova and Romania to strike Lviv unchallenged seems to say otherwise.

Lets hope that Russia's money soon runs out so they cannot pay for this type of purchase. I admit to being disappointed that the USA cannot lean on the UAE to stop helping Russia. Disappointed, yes, but not surprised.

Tangentially related. For those of you worried if the US is learning from this war, specially the drone War, you may be right to be worried:

Totally agree. It's one area where I believe that Europe is ahead of the USA. A number of European countries have started to produce thousands of drone for Ukraine. The UK alone whilst not being specific about numbers have said that they are thousands a month.

Even Australia has been supplying small and highly effective FPV drones to Ukraine for the last two+ years while the US has been pouring money into the latest multibillion manned aircraft and giant drones that cost as much as a manned aircraft.

If the US is not careful they will have Greenland or Panama launch a drone swarm attack inside the US like the Ukrainians did in Russia. ;)

I would hate to be anywhere near the source of a drone-swarm launch site if the U.S. were targeted.

You know those "multibillion manned aircraft and giant drones"? That's where they'll visit...

And all they will find is the dead trucks just like all the Russians found were the dead trucks. The drivers will be long gone and the drone operators will probably be sitting in a nice comfortable area hundreds or thousands of kilometres away and laughing their heads off as they watch and rewatch news video of the city they parked their trucks in being annihilated.
