Hmmm....so America isn't going to sanction Russia until other NATO nations stop buying Russian oil.

While I'm incredibly frustrated at the US failing to take more action against Russia, I can't help hoping that the European NATO members actually do what Trump wants. Call his bluff and stop buying Russian oil. It's a win-win-win...Europe stops depending on Russian oil, which hurts Russia's economy, and America starts slapping tariffs on Putin which further hurt's Russia.

Please oh PLEASE let this happen!

I doubt, even if they were to follow each of the 1001 nights worth of steps.. if turmp would follow through.

Naturally because he knows that his fellow pro Putin NATO buddy Orban will never stop buying Russian oil and other products.

A good starting point would be France, Belgium and Spain ceasing purchase of LNG from Russia. Some of that LNG is sold on to other European nations, including Germany.

Let's at least cut off that funding source for Putin's war. I find it highly hypocritical of these nations to criticize the war and yet they're paying millions into Russia's war coffers. I'm sure the US would sell them LNG, which is a win-win because it would give Trump leverage and an opportunity to crow.

I remember Europe being told they needed to get gas hubs built to reduce reliance on Russian gas back in 2018. Some did while
others actually laughed while being told this needed to happen - particularly the German delegation. They probably aren't laughing now,

A better choice would be for America to practice what it preaches and stop purchasing uranium and titanium from Russia because that would also cut of a source of high value exports for Putin.

Uranium is available from Canada and titanium is available from China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine.

I accept moving off Russian LNG is hard. What really frustrates me, though, is that Europe has actually INCREASED its use of Russian LNG since the start of the war.

Yes, it's hard to entirely replace Russia as a source but, for pity's sake, do SOMETHING to reduce the amount that's required.

I find it ridiculous that Europe is helping fund Russia's war machine while, at the same time, also buying weapons to support Ukraine. Maybe if we stopped or reduced the former, we wouldn't need to do as much of the latter.

Anyone expecting Viktor Orbán in Hungary to? I suspect Trump knew this so was safe to not upset Putin...

And as for also telling NATO to put tariffs on China, that is just playing into his own game.

:laughing3:
