Doesn't this assume that the US both has the will and (given the inventory rapidly being depleted in the Gulf) the means to provide them? Germany might be better off financing non-US air defence tech, such as updated SAMP/T (Aster 30), or at least have a Plan B if the Patriot is not available.

I assume those will be local patriots. MBDA Deutschland has set up a patriot production line in Schrobenhausen, Baviera. Expected to start production this year.

And on a serious note, I recently saw a video where a Ukrainian bomb drone struck a Russian "turtle" tank. Not only did the turret qualify for the turret-toss top ten of 2026, the cope-cage actually beat the turret for altitude and hang time.
 
As an aside I found this interesting. Its reporting that Russia are looking into the reintroduction of the AN-2 into widespread service. Its a bit like the DC-3, in that it never really went totally out of service but you wouldn't think about bringing the DC-3 back into full operation.

I live on the edge of a Parachuting Club and they sometimes use an AN2 during the UK championships when the normal Cessna Caravans need supplementing.
