One thing that stands out in that video to me is Preston's comment that the Russians air defense systems could not shoot down the Ukrainian drones even when they had to travel over 1000km.

From several sites these were FP-1 drones that travel at fairly low airspeeds so are in the air for probably around 5 hours before reaching St Petersburg and almost all of that in Russian air space.

From the noise they make alone it should have been obvious to the Russians that these missiles were headed for St Petersburg and you would expect the Russians to be tracking them by sound if nothing else long before they reach target.

The Russians inability to track and eliminate them shows just how degraded the Russian defenses are.

The reason why I mentioned the Ukrainian Navy earlier, is that when I was watching the videos of the attack on St. Petersburg, the drones were coming into the harbor over the water from the west.

So the question needs to be asked:
just exactly where did all these drones come from?

Or did they just detour around the fixed SAM and gun sites that they know exist (and probably exactly where those sites are).

It would be very difficult to shoot at them when they are skimming the sea as that would mean shooting towards your own facilities/factories/oil depots/etc so to me that is the most logical direction to make your attack from.

The drones would have had to be launched from Chernihiv Oblast in order to get the best possible range, which would then be skirting eastern Belarus.

I still can't imagine that no one saw any of these drones for the nearly 1,200 mile transit.

Due to the russian forces training, I think these won't be a hinderance to shot at the drones. The most plausible readin not to shoot at the drones I belive that didn't see them coming.
