The point is russia is trying to make everybody think of it if it was as it was in 1950. It has done so since the fall of the war and collaps of the S.U.
All thought on militaire schools never changed. One can see that I.g. in Afghanistan , Nagorno-Karabach Krim and Ukraine. But in the Ukraine it fell short.
I remember a whole army on 1 road getting slowly shot up by manpads and the first drones. It is safe to say, I believe, Russia has a problem, because overwhelming manpower is nullified by cheap hunting drones, their new stock weapons are in best case so-so, they do have to consider losses now because one cannot tap into pools of men in other states. And never minding about losses. And when the Russian young men are dying, demografic terrible changes will be felt in this comming decade. Remember the Kursk. Its the disaster that shaked the throne.
Getting your proud navy parked on the bottom of a sea and now a lot of irriplaceble bombers bombed of.. so very far from the front. It does eat your credibility away. And former under lying friends as China India Pakistan trying to feest on your weakness.

Economy is hit also. In long term.

So no. Ru ≠ Ussr.
