There are clear signs that fuel is becoming a serious issue in Russia. Long queues in many areas for fuel and this is impacting both military and civilian users. The railways are also being seriously impacted by drone strikes, funding for repairs/maintenance, manpower constraints and good old fashioned corruption.

We are approaching September and the weather turns in Moscow around early October. I cannot help but think that Ukraine are setting the scene for some seriously difficult times for the ordinary people in Russia, and by default Putin and his supporters. If Ukraine can concentrate on this target area, the impact could easily be very significant

reminds me of summer 1944 and the allied fuel bombing campaign.
situation is different though as many targets are far away. Ukraine needs to lokk what has more effect - attack refineries and other processing facilities or try to stop the flow of crude oil and naturals gas flowing through pipelines so they won't reach processing facilities

Ukraine seem to be doing a pretty good job as they are. Crude oil never powered anything, so refining and distribution seems to be the key. Russia seems to have stopped exporting refined oil as they need it internally. This has an added impact in that exported crude oil has a much lower price than refined oil which is adding to the economic problems they are having.

I am no expert but the refineries, pumping stations and pipelines seem to be key, and that would include the rail system as that presumably is the only alternative to pipelines.
