This video is an interesting view of early 1950 British aircraft development. At this time the English aircraft development seems aggressive and imaginative with some very advanced concepts, and some weird ones. Of note is the variety of aircraft and propulsion concepts utilized. One very interesting design feature was the apparent use of area ruling on the delta wing designs, which is quite a bit before the YF-102 discovered the need. Fascinating viewing.

Tis fascinating - but I think the pinched-in waist viewed from the front is an illusion due to the thick intake area that tapers down. And the whole wing root appears to angle down...
