SAI Ambrosini SS4: This canard aircraft first flew in 1939, thus preceeding the American and Japanese by some margin. Extensive tests with the sole prototype showed good promise, especially in the interceptor role, but by1942 the whole project was abondoned after the aircraft was destroyed by engine failure. Cunarmodels have made a 1/72 resin kit of this aircraft.
