    Aviator Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean on July 2, 1937 while attempting to make the first round-the-world flight along the equator.

    One of the great mysteries of the 20th century.

    Sad, but she wasn't the first or last it happened to. But maybe the most famous.

    Lots of nothing out there, in the middle of the Pacific, lots of room for anything to happen. Still, she was a pioneer and a crusader in her day. :salute:

    They are filming a movie about her here with Richard Gere and Hilary Swank they are doing a lot of the flying scenes at St Catharines airport formally EFTS 9 about 6 mi away
