Avro Lancaster in 1/72?

Looks a beaut! Had me puzzled with those wheels in the first pic, until I realised they must be for the bomb trolley for the 'Upkeep' mine.
Once Airfix release the BI/III and B.II versions, they'll have cornered the market for 1/72nd scale Lancs. I'm really praying they release these in 1/48th scale sometime before I get to old and knackered to build one!
 
As you say old boy, she is a stunner!

A few more pics tomorrow, as the (censored) computer is doing my head in....definitely need a new harddrive....
 
Certainly does look an excellent kit. No rear fuselage detail, but easily scratch-built if one decided to cut open the entry door. Airfix are releasing a separate B1/III and a B.II at some stage too. That'll make it four kits - the BI/III, B.II, Dam Buster and the Dam Buster Gift Set, with different markings, and I think that vac formed Mohne dam from the older kit.
I think I might have to follow Karl, and have some 'heavies' in 1/72nd scale .... even if Airfix do decide to release a 1/48th scale version, I've no idea where I'd put it !!
 
well if i persuade April to go away to college and uni i can nick her room for more shelf space !!!!!

would love to keep things in same scale but no chance of a Hampden, stirling, halifax in 1/48, blenhiems are rare and expensive as are wellingtons and lancasters.
and thats just the RAF types, though B-17's and 24's are not that bad price these days but condors and grief's are very expensive

can get a B-17 in 1/48 for that price
 
All details look good. I have to think about purchasing although bombers aren't my favourite.
 
Where I got it, I paid £25 (£24.99) I think, need to check, either way, she's a beaut!
Maybe the same new tooling for the Halifax, Stirling and Hampden next?
 
Very well done Airfix/Hornby!
Although it's not 'my scale', these new Lancs really are very well done indeed, and the 'Re-Supply' set is excellent, and well overdue. Thar little set really is well done, and excellent value too, especially if one considers the conversion possibilities with the vehicles.
Obviously, I'm hoping the Lanc (and a number of other 'new tool 72nd scale kits) will appear in 1/48th scale at some time, but even if they don't, it would be great to see the re-supply set scaled up, and also further additions of WW2 RAF (and US, Luftwaffe etc) vehicles and accessories in 1/48th scale.
Airfix already have some excellent, and realistically priced, 'modern' vehicles in 1/48th, and I feel that expanding the range to include WW2 would be very warmly received.
Keep the good stuff coming Airfix (can't get used to saying 'Hornby' - dems trains!) - it's great to see them back at the top.
 
Totally agree old boy! Even though it's not really my scale, I'll be buying another Dambuster and the B.II, plus groumdequipment set...
As I said, Airfix save, archive all the wishes, requests about new kits, so start emailing them about new Halifax, Stirling etc., in 1/72 plus 1/48!
Time to make our voices heard.....or I'll just have to buy the company!
 
Wish that Airfix would use a list of colours like others....
What's Humbrol (which I guess these are): 11, 33, 26, 30, 53, 56, 60, 61, 62, 78, 96 and 98?
Try to find matching Vallejo Air, for the Lancasters....
 
Yep, it can be a pain, with unfamiliar subjects, having to check the colour numbers against the Humbrol lists, and then note them on the pages of the instruction sheets.
