Hi all.

I've noticed that on many Bf109E's, there are two small data plates, one on the spinner and another right next to it on the propeller back plate, accompanied by some sort of square red stencil mark.Does anybody know what the red mark was for and if it was on all Emils?

Thanks!

I do not know specifically about this aircraft, but the spinner and back plate need to be indexed to each other for alignment of the screw holes and also for balancing purposes of the engine/propeller system.

That is absolutely golden info, thanks to both of you guys! Its not in the Squadron Bf109E Walkaround book or anywhere else I've searched...

So the 'slot' in the backplate is a locking mechanism...explains the red stencil mark around it! Thank you guys once again!
