Okay guys I needs your help again.
Where on the starboard wing does the raydome sit. I been searching for something that tells me Bazackly where it goes in relation to the wing tip. I have lots of photos showing it very near the pitot tube. But this reason one fits almost Mid wing, an I know that ain't right.

Anyone know fer shur?

from eduard instructions Bill.

on their 1/72 scale kit it says 9.5mm from the wingtip panel line.

However please attention to the lenght of the radarpod. Although the images above indicate it was of a quite different shape used for the aerodynamic tests and the drawings present it slightly longer at the bottom , the images below show it was running back up to the aileron leading edge. So either there were two radarpod types of two different sizes or the Eduard is wrong.

It looks like the F6F-3E/N had a smaller radar as per Post #6

IMHO you are correct Geo. :thumbright: I have found the same and that's the reason I made a focus on the difference. But even though, the one used for the F6F-5N looks longer than the one in the Kagero drawings and the Karl's diagram. And just a note, the Eduard 1/72 scale kit has it correct.

To sum up .. believing in the Eduard's 9,5mm for the 1/72 scale , the dimension for the 1/48 should be 14,25mm (~ 14,2mm) measured as it showed in the the Eaduard's diagram above.

If for the 5N it is correct located IMHO. But that's the another reason for checking many times on such details. :)
BTW .. Im not at home now and can't check on the Kagero drawaings but it seems that the diagram for the -3E you posted above shows the additional fuel tank but not the radar container. Im not sure but it comes back to me.

Caption says, "container with with AN/APS-4 radar as used on F6F-3E and F6F-5E" Its mounted on a wing rack, not the wing itself and a different diagram now shows it mounted on the starboard wing

There are 2 Grumman drawings, (credit Aircorps Library), that show the installation of a radar pod. The first is a "preliminary" drawing that shows the installation on a F6F-3 specifically. The second drawing is a general installation, but hard to tell what model of Hellcat because the information block on the drawing is very unreadable. The 3rd pic shows a blowup of the 45000 drawing info block, and it appears to show "F6F-3". They are both the same dimension, (214 7/16"), taken from the centerline of the aircraft.
